Smithy, I have been meaning to put pen to paper for some time. Your photo of POS by night has inspired me to act. This blog is provocative. It places me in these conflicted roles - while I agree that there is beauty to be found, I find that these days I have to look harder and deeper to find it. Beauty, from where I sit, is shrinking. (I even find that Trinidadians are becoming less physically beautiful.) Take the buzz word of the day, "integrity". Do we even know what it means anymore? Perhaps that's why there seems to be so little of it. And what of compassion? The ability to empathise and extend a helping hand to another? We all seem so preoccupied in our own materialistic, dog-eat-dog world that these simple "beauties" are becoming less visible.

ReplyDeleteWhile I agree, I truly feel that unless some of us try, all of us will fail.
